Tour Itinerary :
DAY 01: Arrival in Balikpapan – Loajanan – Mahakam River Tours
Meet at airport and directly transfer to Loa Janan for boarding the houseboat to start the exciting adventure of Mahakam River. Lunch, dinner and overnight on houseboat. (L,D)
DAY 02: Muara Muntai – Mancong – Mahakam River
Arrive at Muara Muntai and sightseeing villagers daily activities from the long
wooden bridge which is made of iron wood, and then proceed to Mancong by motorized canoe crossing the Jempang Lake of which we will have the opportunity to view many migratory water bird species and fishermen floating houses as well as the romantic Ohong River where proboscis monkeys, monitor izards and other wild animals are hanging around at riverside. In Mancong, we will watch hundred colorful dress dancers that welcome you with an impressive attraction in front of their exotic longhouse. Afterwards, return to houseboat for cruising upward the Mahakam River. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on houseboat. (B,L,D)
DAY 03: Melak – Eheng – Kersik Luwey – Mahakam River
Arrive at Melak and directly transfer to Eheng village for visiting an old and
impressive longhouse with its unique ornament and shape while exploring the Tunjung Dayak daily life. Next, we will drive to Kersik Luwey reserve for observing the rare black orchid and other flora on the zone. Afterwards return to houseboat for cruising downward the Mahakam River. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on houseboat. (B,L,D)
DAY 04: Mahakam River – Tenggarong - Balikpapan
After breakfast, we will visit the King Collection on the Museum of Mulawarman and Royal Cemetery of Kutai Kartanegara kingdom. Afterwards, cruise downward to Loa Janan and directly transfer by private AC land transportation to Balikpapan for overnight in hotel. (B,L,D)
DAY 05: Balikpapan - Banjarmasin
Breakfast at hotel and free at own leisure till the proper time for transferring you to airport for flight to Banjarmasin. Arrive at Banjarmasin airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight. (B,L,D)
DAY 06:Floating Market – Traditional Diamond Digging
Early morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities on riverside. Next, proceed to Cempaka village to explore traditional diamond digging where people take material out of the ground then shake them on the pan of wood for finding raw diamond, and then continue our trip by visiting diamond polishing, stone and handicraft market in Martapura. Afterwards, return to hotel in Banjarmasin. Free program. (B,L,D)
DAY 07: Banjarmasin – Pangkalan Bun – National Park
Free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your
flight to Pangkalan bun. Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun airport by IAT, KALSTAR or LINUS AIRWAYS, you will be picked up by our staff and take you to kumai port by car for 20 minutes and then proceed to National Park Tanjung Puting area by Boat for 2 hours. The boat is wooden river boat for tourist specialist. It’s 12m by 2,5m with a roof and called by Klotok, which forms the upper deck, you can view the natural rainforest. We will slowly explore the quite river by Klotok to observe wild animals and natural environment along the river sides. There are Prosboscis Monkeys, macaques, any kind of birds and other wild animals will greet you in the middle of Borneo rain forest. On the boat there is cabin with mattress, pillow, meals, bottled mineral water, mosquito net, kitchen and toilet. You can choose to take dinner and stay over night on Boat or at Rimba Lodge. (B,L,D)
DAY 08:Boat/Lodge – Camp Leaky – Proboscis Monkeys Tours
After breakfast, we will travel up the river for morning river safari for 2 hours boating to Camp Leaky where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest. Mind refreshing and learn more about river ecology, visit orang-utan education centre and see feeding time in Camp Leaky at 14:00, also afterward back to observe prosboscis monkeys on the tress along river sides. Take dinner and over night at Lodge or on Boat. (B,L,D)
DAY 09:Boat/Lodge – Pondok Tangguy – Fireflies Tours
After breakfast, we will travel up the river to enjoy morning breeze and view natural rainforest then join in morning orang-utan feeding centre in Pondok tangguy at 09:00 and take short trekking on loop trail. On The way back we will stop in Pesalat reforest station to learn and support the peoples do reforest activities then visit Traditional Village of Tanjung Harapan and join in other feeding time in Tanjung Harapan Center at 15:00. Afterward do trekking to traditional village of Tanjung Harapan to see and observe the pure villagers do daily activities at late noon and then back to take dinner and stay over night at Lodge or on Boat. (If the weather is good, you can enjoy Fireflies tours and river safari with candle light dinner on Boat). (B,L,D)
DAY 10: Boat/Lodge – Kumai Port – Pangkalan Bun
After breakfast, we will travel down the river by boat to escort you to Kumai port then proceed to Pangkalan Bun airport by car to catch your flight for your next destination.
