Visit Tanjung Puting National Park in Pangkalan Bun to enjoy short orangutan tours and Borneo river safari including observing wild animals around river banks. Tanjung Puting National Park is located on peninsula on the south east of Borneo , covers an area about 300.400 hectares. The park lined with vast tracts of wetland, lowland, mature tropical heat swamp forest with large rookeries that provide breeding ground for wide population of waterfowl. Flora and Fauna Tree species commonly found such as; ramin, meranti, jelutung, kerwing,ulin (iron wood). The park also inhabited by wild orangutans, proboscis monkey, long tail macaque, birds including; hornbill, king fisher, myna, oriental darter, and over 220 other species of birds. Furthermore, kind of fauna that seen occasionally; agile gibbon, gray gibbon, red leaf monkey, Malayan sun bear, monitor lizard, and crocodiles. The river attached with swamp and lake to support the life of many species of fish.
Tour Itinerary
Day 01 JAKARTA OR SEMARANG - PANGKALAN BUN – BORNEO RIVER TOURS
Fly by Linus Air or Riau AIr from Jakarta or from Semarang by Kalstar or IAT Air to Pangkalan Bun and upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun airport, you will be picked up by our staff and then take you to Kumai by car for 20minutes to board on the boat. Cruise up river to explore the wildlife along the Seikonyer River, in the late afternoon you will see the proboscis monkey and other primates found along the river sides. The boat will cruise slowly to observe wildlife as long as river sides in Tanjung Puting National Park. You can choose for accommodation, stay over night and take dinner at Lodge or On Boat
Day 02 RIMBA LODGE/BOAT-PONDOK TANGGUY FEEDING CAMP - END
After breakfast you will slowly cruise up river to Pondok Tangguy feeding camp to see the orangutan, it is a new rehabilitation center where orphaned orangutan are introduced into the forest, here we will see orangutan feeding time at 09:00 in the morning, then continue to take short trekking in this area. For your best short weekend holiday, we will cruise back down the river to Kumai Port and directly drive to Pangkalan Bun Airport to catch your flight for next destination
For competitive price and to get much more opportunity to see wildlife in this area you can stay over night on boat. The boat is river wooden boat and called by Klotok. It’s 12m by 2,5m and there is toilet, cabin with clean mattress, on upper deck you can enjoy natural rain forest view and in the morning you will fell the sweetest greeting from any kind of birds and other wild animals such as macaques, proboscis monkeys, orangutans while you enjoy breakfast with coffee or tea.
